The club hosted the annual Golden Retriever Interclub on 18th June 2026 at Inpark, Cattistock Dorset with many thanks to Robert, Nikki and Martin Atkinson for the grounds and invaluable help. Saturday evening many of us enjoyed a get together at Dorset Star farm for delicious pizzas.The tests were very expertly planned by Robert to be 6 true team tests on rough ground and water. Run successfully in anti clockwise order. In the event of a tie (which there was) Robert decided the result would be awarded to the fastest team timed on the Pick Up. We were grateful for so much help from our stewards, throwers, placers, organisers at the desk and good friends. A late shortage of thrower caused a quick reshuffle and luckily a spectator, Jess (?) agreed to be trained up in minutes to place dummies, well done you!! Special moment! Our expert committee Glennis Hewitson Chairman and Su Porter, Secretary and new members provided superb catering from 8am until the end of the competition with take away rolls , fruit and many delicious cakes. Outside seating arrangements worked out perfectly.
11 teams travelled from all over the country to take part, some making use of Robert’s offer to camp for the weekend. This is a very special annual event and to be involved in any way is a great way to keep in touch with our Golden friends everywhere. Long may it last and be well supported.

This was my last event as WTSec. Many thanks to Stuart Robson for his help with this and other events, Robert and family too. Not forgetting my long suffering husband Michael who loves throwing dummies! I wish Mary Palk with help from Patsy Giblett in taking over the role of Working Test Secretary for the South Western Golden Retriever Club.
