After continued contact with the relevant authorities for some time the Officers & Committee of the South Western Golden Retriever Club were delighted that the Owner was convicted of mistreating animals & banned from keeping dogs for 10 years.
However, the Committee have always been concerned that the Owners would try to reopen in the future either locally or further afield.
We are therefore appalled that three dogs have now been returned to the Daughter of the Golden Retriever Experience’s Owner, particularly in light of the fact that she actually was responsible for much of the day to day running of the GRE. Please see the report in the West Somerset Free Press www.wsfp.co.uk/news/golden-retriever-experience-co-owner-defends-return-of-three-dogs-after-court-case-822154.
We are also dismayed to learn that retrospective planning permission for the premises has been submitted (& thankfully refused) since the conviction. This adds further to concerns of the Owners future intentions. We would urge our Members & the wider community as a whole to be aware & report to the RSPCA any concerns of cruelty to the dogs or indeed any signs of activity with regards to reopening.
Thank you.
